Your Magic Is In Your Perspective

Some things I’m feeling good about lately…

I’ve experienced a lot of changes this year, both internally and externally. In January, I was so excited to have published my book. I had fulfilled my life’s biggest dream and to run workshops at bookstores, host book signings, sell 𝘚𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘤𝘬 𝘐𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘖𝘶𝘵 on consignment, and promote my work were some of the best experiences of my life.

I was on a high that ran on productivity, accomplishing goals, and continuing forward into larger, more encompassing dreams.

But in the recent months, as I slowed down book promotion and enjoyed summer, I’ve been feeling a completely different energy.

I’m more drawn to the journey rather than the end result.

I’m attracted to the in-between moments and not solely the outcome of my efforts.

I want to savor what I’m doing every day with the realization that my fulfillment is in the work I love waking up to, not when that work is complete.

I’ve realized that the changes I think I’m going to feel within myself and my life after accomplishing goals only lasts a short while. Yes, it’s a wonderful feeling to witness how far you’ve come when you achieve your dreams, but you soon realize that it was never about the finish line.

It’s always the small, seemingly ordinary moments we rush through that contain the sweet spot of our dreams.

So, these days, I have many wild dreams within me, but I don’t feel the need to chase after them with the same fervor as I did back in January. I realize that I can take the journey slow, enjoy the tiny moments of my day-to-day world, and still work toward something that feels bigger than me.

The more I understand that life is happening now and not in the future, the happier I’m becoming because I’m awakening to the vibrancy in 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘭𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵.

Your joy is in those small moments. Your morning coffee, a text from your parents, a kind exchange with a coworker, the random act of kindness you offer to a stranger, falling asleep peacefully at the end of a long day or the mere miracle of being alive in this vast Universe.

Enjoy your ordinary world. What feels ordinary today is what you’ll most likely miss in your future.

Your magic is in your perspective.
